The Intellivision was Mattel Toys’ entry into video game consoles.
It had a few surprising industry-first features: Voice synthesis and game downloads via TV signal!
When it came out, it was certainly the largest competition console-wise that Atari saw in the market, and it fought valiantly, but ultimately lost its footing during the Video Game Crash of '83.
